Mirgorod Resort 💒 Holy Dormition Cathedral was built in 1887 on the site of a burned wooden church of the XVII century and was the main church of the Myrhorod regiment. The cathedral is a monument of architecture in the style of classicism, was painted by students of VM Vasnetsov, the altar was decorated with a unique ceramic iconostasis, made in the Myrhorod school of arts and crafts. After the discovery of mineral springs and the construction of the surrounding area, the cathedral was located in the resort. From 1937 to 1942 and from 1957 to 1990 the church was closed. The bell tower and domes were destroyed, the iconostasis was dismantled, unique frescoes and paintings were painted over. The building was used as a warehouse for mineral water, since 1976 it was equipped with a pump room of one of the sanatoriums. In the beginning of 1990 CJSC Myrhorodkurort handed over the building of the church to the Orthodox community, already on December 30, 1990, after repairs and re-equipment, a service was held in the church. The belfry was rebuilt, bells were purchased, the main carved wooden iconostasis and two small ones were made, and the artist Volodymyr Tkachenko re-painted the walls and ceiling of the church in 4 years.
