This is one of the oldest churches in Kharkov, located on Grigorovka (which entered the city limits of Kharkov only in 1924, and before that it was a village). The first mention of the then still wooden church on Grigorovka appears in 1765. The stone temple was built in 1820 at the expense of A. Norov in the style of classicism, which involves reducing the volume of the temple to simple geometric shapes (a cube, as the basis for the design of the temple). Initially, the temple was single-throne, and only in 1892 several more chapels were added.
