Church of the Ascension of the Lord. 1926 An Orthodox community founded in Volovets and Kanor in 1925 an emigrant from Russia (and possibly from Ukraine, because he spoke Ukrainian) about. Lev Tillevich, who became also the first Orthodox priest. The initiator of the Orthodox movement from the local people was Andriy Betz, who headed the construction of a wooden church. Together with him worked Ivan Madyar, Fedor Baganich and possibly brothers Andriy Betsy, Oleksa and Mikhail. Among the masters mention is also made of the brothers Ilnitsky - Ivan, Vasily and Mikhail. A. Betsa made iconostasis to the church, the royal doors, the tomb and the lights. For the construction of the church, 40,000 Czechoslovak crowns were assembled (apparently, a certain part was allocated by the state). The boards were bought from the owner of the local sawmill, Shayho Greenberg. The bells were bought by local railwaymen. No one who has made a project of this interesting building. At the same time, the faithful collected funds and materials for the stone church, although in 1931 the community had a debt of 15 thousand crowns for the land on which the church was already standing. The next priest was about. Thomas Rosokha is an active preacher of Orthodoxy, who also translated people across the border into the USSR. The wooden frame of the skeleton structure and the traditional two-tier bell tower formed an interesting ensemble of wooden structures in a place where there are now private houses behind the post office. The four chests crowned the crests of the gondola roofs, and at the intersection of the roofs a slightly larger headboard rises. In August 1943, as a result of hostilities, the church was slightly damaged. At the same time, the church and the bell tower were taken by people who were left without housing because of a railway accident. The bells were moved to the stone church. The cartilage and carved tomb were stored in people.
