This church is a clear example of how impressive the simplicity of architecture can be. In appearance, this is an unremarkable temple that stands in the heart of Nemirov. It would seem that it was impossible to build something much more beautiful, more attractive than this tastelessness? It seems to me that it is impossible. After all, if you walk around the church for a long time and look at it more closely, you can understand that it is so beautiful without any sculptures or frescoes. This is how he has been decorating Nemyriv for hundreds of years and I hope he will always decorate.

A beautiful city temple with more than two hundred years of history. He survived the turbulent milestones of history from which he constantly suffered, but also restored at the expense of noble people of the city. Today, the majestic and restrained church fascinates locals and casual travelers. Definitely worth a visit and explore this ancient and rich in history place.

The construction of the brick (now functioning) Church of St. Joseph the Betrothed in the center of Nemyriv began in 1805 at the expense of the then owner of the town, Count Szczenny Potocki. Count Boleslaw Potocki completed the construction in 1830. The local parish became part of the Kamyanets diocese. The church was consecrated in 1838 by Ordinary Bishop Frantsysk Matskevich. The Church of St. Joseph the Betrothed became the main architectural dominant of the city. The street on which it is located for a long time was called Church.

In the first years of Russian rule, Nemirov was unlucky. After the fires of 1803 and 1811, the city burned to the ground. Actually, for this reason, all the architectural charms are not older than the XIX-XX centuries. Nemyriv is bought for some incredible money by Stanislav Shchenny Potocki, the same adventurer in love, the owner of Tulchyn and Uman's Sofiyivka. At his expense in 1805-30 the church of Joseph the Betrothed was built according to the project of Italian architects. The temple was consecrated only in 1838. Soviet authorities tried to destroy this temple. Sometime in the 1930s, the church towers were demolished and a house of culture was built in the building. However, in the 2000s the church was completely restored in its original form (after all, at least something is being reconstructed here). They say every hour the clock on the tower plays different melodies, but I did not have to hear.
