Temple of the Archangel Michael, located in the village of Pustin, Piryatin district, Poltava region! The temple was built in 1775. Temple wooden! In the 1930s, like many other churches, it was closed and plundered by communes and their henchmen! However, some of the church icons and other property have long been hidden by the locals. When the temple was reopened for worship in 1941, the villagers returned icons and other things to the church that had been preserved. By this time the church is active, church services are being held! Not only the village of Poustyn, but also many neighboring villages and cities come to the church for big holidays!

Architectural style - classicism (in wood). The church has retained its authentic look and interior. The archaic uneven vertical bundle of the lower tier gives the church an extra charm. The porticos are grand in their classic simplicity. The columns of the western, main portico are covered with thin planks - imitation flute (!). The columns of the side porticos are simply made of whole trunks. The church has a noble color in gray and blue. I have been thinking for a long time - what lies behind the perfection of this classic architecture in wooden design? Then I understood. At the heart of the classicist style is the architecture of Ancient Greece. And the Greek classics originated as the architecture of wooden buildings. All these columns, porticos, entablature were originally integral parts of the construction of wooden buildings. That is why classical architecture is so good in wooden design. Here it loses the cold of the stone and returns the warmth of the tree. St. Michael's Temple stands on the bank of the river Udai, near the settlement of the ancient Russian city Polkosten ....
