Assumption Cathedral - the successor to the legendary cathedral, near which the Cossacks swore allegiance to the Moscow tsar. That church, built in 1596 by Konstantin Ostrozky, burned down in 1655. In its place in 1760 built a large wooden temple with nine Byzantine baths. But in 1825 it was so reworked that, according to Shevchenko, "it is impossible to look at it and not just draw." The modern Assumption Cathedral was built in 1896 in the then popular "brick" style. The facades of the cathedral contained motifs of various styles of Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantine buildings. With the help of figured brickwork, the builders created bizarre ornaments. The architect of the cathedral is Vladimir Nikolaev.

Historic architectural cult building ... For the first time the Temple was built here by Vladimir Monomakh - the Church of Piroshchi. It was a church - the home temple of the princes of Pereyaslav. Its hordes were destroyed in the 13th century. The shrine was rebuilt in all ages. The temple, in which part of the Cossacks on the initiative of Bohdan Khmelnytsky concluded the Pereyaslav Military Agreement, was created by Konstantin Ostrozky in 1596. The church was wooden and burned down the next year after the Pereyaslav Agreement. After the fire, a large wooden cathedral with nine Byzantine baths was rebuilt in its place in 1760. And in 1825 it was redesigned, but he did not care about his kind of traveling contemporaries. Taras Shevchenko then said - "it is impossible to look at him, not just to draw." The current Assumption Cathedral was built in 1896. This building is a five-domed pseudo-Byzantine style temple. The architecture used a brick brick masonry yellow. That is why the locals call it the Yellow Church. It has a decor of different directions, which is characteristic for Romanesque, Gothic and Byzantine style of buildings. In the Council today, the abbot serves as Archpriest Fr. Ioan Haiduchok, service is under the authority of the Ukrainian Church of the Moscow Patriarchate. You must pay tribute to Fr. John, he is well cared for at the 125th Annual Cathedral. Over the past 20 years, the domes have been repaired and the bathrooms have been blocked off. Decorated portals of the building with mosaic images - The cover of the Mother of God and other religious images, arranged the courtyard with tiled alleys around the Cathedral, built a new fence.

Great temple, looks great on the outside, did not have to visit inside. When viewed, you can feel two time intervals. Tombstones of the tombs that are immersed in the courtyards and tablets of the foundation of the temple in ancient times, and the appearance of the cathedral itself is relatively recent.
