Nicholas Church

St. Nicholas Church (Other Names - St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas Church) is a rare sight of the 18th century. One of the best wooden temples of Chernihiv region in Baroque style, preserved in its original form. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas, the patron saint of travelers. It has the shape characteristic of ancient wooden temples of Northern Ukraine: 5 log cabins, 1 dome, multi-tiered roof. In the XVIII century the school and shelter for the crippled and infirm operated at the Nikolaev church. In the 19th century, the temple was reconstructed in the Empire style with the completion of a portico and sacristy. But at the same time he retained his original features. Also, a bell tower was erected nearby, which was demolished in the twentieth century. During the Soviet Union, a museum was housed in the church. Worship services are taking place here. - In place of the Nikolaev church in ancient times there was a pagan idol. In 1086, a stone temple was built here, which was destroyed by the Mongol-Tatars. After the Mongol invasion, the church was restored only in 1720 - The church has three entrances with slotted door corners and flat ceilings, typical of ancient wooden buildings in northern Ukraine - both temples and country houses.

A very beautiful historic site, the church has been kept in excellent condition, with a minimum of restoration.

The temple was originally built without a single nail, located on the former site of the pre-Christian temples. I advise everyone to visit, possibly Communion and pray to St. Nicholas
