Blackbird Pizza

I have been here several times since I live right down the block. They make good pizza, best vegan slice around IMO. I give 3 stars because the speed of service and pizza prep is very slow. If they could cut the wait time for both ordering food and waiting for orders, I'd give them 5 stars. Other pizza places around don't have the same issue who offer equal quality pizza.

Went in for first time on Sunday afternoon. Sign says wait to be seated..... We waited and waited place was dead still no server in sight.... Bartender couldn't be bothered.... Nobody noticed we left.. Went to little big burger across the street.

Just wanted a snack, but ended up sharing the beet salad and a pizza. The beet salad was super tasty. Mason jar cocktails and pinball were good reasons to stick around for a bit. Super nice staff, too!

Great pizza and the crust is perfect for my taste... flavorful and thin, but still enough to be a bit chewy. They just have updated their menu as of this post. Sadly the chicken carbonara pizza appears to be gone, but they were able to get it pretty close with ingredients on-hand.

I have really liked blackbird in the past, at the old interstate ave location and this was our first trip to the only blackbird left, on Hawthorne. It’s probably going to be our last. The pizza was good but we ordered mushrooms - how much is it to add a veggie topping? - and I think I counted about 5 or 6 slices of mushroom on the whole pie. Besides that minor detail, I don’t understand why it seems they are in competition to be the grungiest pizza place in town. What’s wrong with a clean restaurant with decent people running your store? And I know that I was given the wrong beer on tap but the guy at the counter did not believe me. Just check the keg, dude. I have been a pizza cook for 12 years elsewhere in town and like going out for pizza but unfortunately won’t be doing it here anymore.
