I grew up here in the 60s and 70s. This is my first time back in 40 years and I have to say it’s an amazing transformation from what was a man-made disaster reclaimed by the help of many. Greater prairie chicken and short-eared owls. Amazing day.

Not a place for entertainment, but a place to really enjoy nature. Large area to drive around; pick up their map. Best walking path we did was the Grace Teninga Discovery Trail. Good hiking shoes and bug spray (ticks) are in order as it is a mowed path. You will want long pants in other walking areas as you are ON the prairie, not a path.

Really nice park, well worth the drive. Seeing the bison takes patience and a good eye.

Awesome place! 20,000 acres preserved here! The Nature Conservancy is where the preserves are at, that's for sure. If you're a birder, this is an amazing place. You can see a lot of raptors in winter (Saw six species today!). I would love to return in summer.
