I sent my kids in to pick up some candy for me and them, as a treat. We haven’t been going out much the last several months, and I wanted to support a local store during one of our contact weekends. It was by far the worst experience we’ve ever had. The teen workers were beyond rude. The person who appeared to be the manager sat in the cafe area and just watched them behave that way. We spent nearly $100, and I’m usually a notorious overtipper but could not bring ourselves to pay for such awful treatment. We visit candy shops all over the US, and have always been proud of this Hoosier treat, but the Carmel location brings shame to the South Bend Chocolate name.
Terrible customer service. Owner wasn't wearing mask on his face properly. Came in from a delivery, never washed his hands. Manager spent majority of time yelling at teenage employees. Coffee was overpriced. Orders were being made out of order. Will not come here again.
The owners son is so personable and I really enjoyed talking to him. His love for his company really shines and is so personable! :) The ice cream is the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. Carmel praline and peanut butter swirl are extremely delicious. I’m craving them already. They also have so many gluten free options. Such as TWO Cheesecakes which I was SHOCKED! Ice creams are clearly marked with ingredients! Love this place! ud83dudc95
Not a bad first date spot!nnThe chicken salad sandwich was a little too wet from the chicken salad. It was also too sweet; as was the potato salad.nnThe Pecan coffee, my Girlfriend ordered, tasted watery. However, the espresso I ordered was good.nnIt was ~$15 for a meh sandwich, super sweet potato salad, and a good large espresso.
The candy and the ice cream are always good. Service is good as well.
