Yet another historic airport bulldozed in favor of a subdivision to accommodate the ceaseless influx of California transplants. Ironically the neighborhoods are named things like Citabria, Cessna and Sky Landing in a perverse homage to the airport they destroyed.

It was a fun little airport to land at. With the cemetery to the east, it made landing west a bit tricky sometimes. Usually the wind was out of the west, so you got what you got. 2100 feet long, not a problem for a C-172 or C-182. AA5A and such. It was a bit narrow...20ft, so it looked alot shorter than it was. i never understood how Doc Langmack could fly his twin Commanche in and out so easy. Back in the 60's he even had runway lights. Looked really cool at night. The neighbor kids shot them out once too many times, and it went dark. Sky divers used to land there, as well as the local folk who had planes parked there. The Columbus Day Storm really messed up the big hanger. The graphic was never the same after that. Then a while back...Right before the housing bubble pooped, it was decided to put in houses. So good bye runway. It was fun to fly down and see my folks. Very sad, Lebanon is the closet place now.
