AN EXQUISITE PARK ! My wife and I were enjoying a fly / drive vacation in Oregon not long back. We rented at car at Portland Airport and made the drive down the beautiful Oregon Coast stopping at points of interest along the way. Our final stop was Eugene so we could spend a few days with my wife's son and his girlfriend. My wife and I love to ride bikes so we rented a couple of Trek road bikes to get around the coffee shops in town. One day we rode our rental bikes along the bike path that travels through this park which is adjacent to the lovely Willamette River. Our tour guide was her son who has lived in Eugene for years with his girlfriend. We must have criss-crossed at least 6 bridges over the river. At one point while we having a break 2 huge Great Blue Herons landed in the pond not too far from us. Then to our amazement one of them flew over and landed within a few feet of us. The Great Blue Heron looked so beautiful and so blue as it stood there motionless. Lots to see and heaps to admire....such an enjoyable bike ride !
The Alton Baker Park is a nice green space in Eugene. There is a duck pond with some geese. You are not supposed to feed these wild animals. It is lovely to see them with their little ducklings swimming. Sometimes you can hear a concert at the Cuthbert Outdoor Shell on the far side of the park.nThere are restrooms... The Willametter River runs by across from EWEB.nBikes galore. It is a short drive over to the North Bank McMenamins for a little outdoor lunch (the happy hour fries are terrific 4-6)!
A little tame and a little wild river access. Soo nice to go a rather large park with All kinds of people enjoying God's beauty. AND it is pristine! NO graffiti of any kind (that I could see) and no littering! One of many reasons why we love Oregon!
It is nice dont like the dirty bums around they should be taken away but other than that its great place for a walk
Love this amazing park. So big and so many activities going on all the time. Great place to get my daily walks in with plenty of different paths to walk. My favorite park
