Kamp Modoc Family Campground & Play Lake

We planned a trip for a second time to camp here. The first time was about 5 years ago. The group area was very nice and right on the water. Our family loves to camp and check out new campgrounds, but decided to come back because I liked this one so much the first time. This time, not so much. We drove 2 hours to camp here. We paid for SEVERAL sites for 5 days to wind up leaving after 2 nights and finding another campground. We paid a good amount of money to be treated very poorly. It may seam like they have a lot of activities for kids, but it seamed as if they did not like children. We arrived on a week day. Not very busy at all. Looked to be all elderly regulars or season campers that drive around on the gulf carts being very rude. A child was sitting on one of the tricycles and was screamed at to get off Bc he did not have a wrist band (A band that was bought, but he had lost the first day). Instead of going to find the child’s parent and speaking to them about not having a band on, he (a bigger man) screamed and scared a child for sitting on a tricycle that out put out for the guest! We will take our business somewhere else in the future and I will never recommend this place again especially to anyone with children. I never leave negative reviews, but I’d rather save someone looking for a good time the headache of trying this place out.

Extremely fun for the kids! Endless activities for the kids to partake in, not to mention the playground that entertained for hours. Our kids loved the train rides, contests, and night parade. I booked our next trip with them because the family enjoyed it so much. We did have poor cellphone service and hit or miss on the free WI-FI but helped to unplug from life a little easier.

This place is meticulously maintained. The staff are very professional and courteous. Answered all our questions before we made the reservations. We stayed during the week and its peaceful. We truly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely be back!

We came to Kamp Modoc just for the day. My kids loved the beach area. They had so much fun on the inflatables and water trikes. We thought the beach area was much nicer than nearby Summit Lake. They cant wait to come back! I only gave it 4 stars because the staff did not communicate well. When we arrived, they said the lake was closed after I bought passes. I had to keep pressing her until she said it was just closed for cleaning and would open soon. Then, the person cleaning the lake forgot to tell the office it was done so it could be reopened. Also, at other outdoor places I've visited, the clerk will ask if you've been there before. If not, they'll give you a brief overview. The clerk did not ask anything. When I got to the lake, I realized my kids needed a life jacket. I called the office to see if they had them and only then was I told life jackets were available for free at the back door. I had told the clerk we going to the lake. With a brief overview of the amenities, that could have been avoided. Overall, great place. We will be back!

Kamp Modoc is my happy place! Totally kid oriented down to the speed limit. Children are their priority. Love this place
