Future of General Aviation is alive and well at home here on a beautiful setting near Bloomfield, IN. Rob and I raised our daughter Sarah here. Many hours spent re-building our ‘61 Cessna 172B fastback. The most beautiful ‘Fly on-Fly off’ tricycle gear ever made. Slick and pretty! Shawnee Field breathed new life back into her once again. No danger of encroachment at Shawnee Field. This is a 100 year White River floodplain. It won’t be developed. It affords the VFR pilot lots of fun places to go see and has many miles and miles of corn and soybean fields blanketing the airport proper. Excellent emergency choices. Wonderful, thriving ultralight club and many kit and plans builders on site. Picnics, candy drop, flour sack bombing runs, were annual events. Young Eagle program started many kids in aviation. Two EAA chapters support the clientele. Multiple T hangars. Many new ones are local Indiana Amish built. Very well known Harmon Rocket and RV-6 builder on site. One of the most experienced builders at Oshkosh and Sun n Fun. Can’t say enough good about this Field.nnKim SackmannnPast President EAA 650
