Woodland Trailhead

This is the south end of Woodland trail 7. It is accessible from the parking lot on Scenic drive that forms the Scenic Trail, but is unmarked on this end. Walk a brief distance on the Scenic drive trail from the parking lot until you cross over the wooden bridge and then look immediately left for a dirt path into the forest. This trail continues through the forest nouth to the Gar Hill area. It is not super rugged other than the fact it is not very well maintained. There are tons of downed trees and honeysuckle overgrowth. Some of the down trees are so large and the path so narrow, that is very difficult to find the trail again after navigating around them as other confused hikers have created dead end paths in the vicinity. The trail is very lightly trafficked and marked with white blazes, except where you most need them. I did not encounter a soul on the entire trail, which meant I got to walk through 100 spider webs. Although adjacent to Brookville Lake there is not much view all through all the foliage. You can hear the boats though. This trail can make a long loop by hiking down to Garr Hill and then back up the Scenic drive for about 9 miles. That would be the easier loop direction as the elevation generally goes down towards the north, and walking up the paved trail would be easier. I actually hiked the loop down the Scenic trail to Garr Hill and up Woodland from there for a challenge.
