A beautiful cathedral basilica, but that’s about it. The tabernacle is way off to the side, hidden, in its own room. The whole environment in and around the cathedral basilica is disturbing; the very progressive and New Age culture of Santa Fe has infiltrated the beauty of this place. Finally, the paranoia regarding COVID is as obvious as daylight. **If you’re a faithful Catholic visiting, I highly recommend that you DO NOT go to Mass here.**
I could say a few words about the priest (presumably the rector of the church) and the gentlemen who were the lectors/extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, but this is a review of the cathedral basilica.
The historical vibrance and the aesthetic detail in the architecture, the beautifully roses and the labyrinth to the left of the entrance are three of it's aspects I appreciate. The one saint and really only one I have been fascinated by is St. Francis with his love of animals and the natural world. This is a cathedral worth preserving to say the least. Enjoy.
Stunning cathedral! The craftsmanship that went into building this piece of art is truly something amazing! The church itself is a staple to Santa Fe, If you come to visit SF, it is a MUST SEE attraction. The gift shop also has a lot of really beautiful items. Also, I side the cathedral itself tucked behind the grand piano is a little shrine as well as some relics that will leave you in awe when reading where some of them came from!!
Cool brick maze to the left when facing the front of church.
Please help truth and goodness win in this country again. The people in power now are doing the exact opposite of WWJD.
As of Wednesday, Oct 7th it is only open Saturday and Sunday for mass. The architecture is beautiful from the outside. Amazing details. I'm sure the inside is more grand! I wish it was open for public. There were a lot of people outside. Socially distancing from each other and wearing mask. It reminds me so much of the cathedral my famity and I went to growing up.
