El Tenampa Mexican Restaurant

We were very very disappointed in all of the meals that we received. We spent over $ 65 and none of the dinners looked at all appetizing as they appeared in the photos. I orderednamarones al Mojo de Ajon$17.95nShrimp sauteed in delicious creamy white wine lemon butter sauce with fresh tomatoes and cilantro. Perfect if you like mild flavor.nThey had no pasta. They only had yellow rice. There was no cilantro, fresh tomatoes, or creamy white wine sauces. It was rice and shrimp. The other 4 meals were horrible too.

Food is fresh and we'll made. First time trying their tepeyac molcajete. It was wonderful. Plenty left over for another meal. Also tried their agua fresca tamarindo (drink)....so very refreshing and not over sweet.

During Covid, not many places are open. Looking online at what was around, we found El Tenampa and saw that they were open. Tried ordering on Uber eats, but it wasn’t working and when I called and asked if they were aware they said they didn’t know why. I placed an order for pickup anyway. I ordered 2 enchilada entrees, one pork one chicken, both with red sauce, and the espinacas con queso. I opened the espinacas con queso first, which came with only FOUR small tortillas to eat it with. I was surprised because this appetizer costs nearly $15, and when I opened the takeout container I found Very little spinach tomatoes and cheese, and it was all stuck to the aluminum container and would not scrape off. However, what I could manage to eat from it did taste very good, but not worth it. The enchiladas with red sauce both came covered in obvious store bought ITALIAN marinara sauce, with very little flavor, none of the flavor was “authentic” like they advertise. The rice and beans it came with were just terrible. I do not recommend this restaurant for food, however the service was very fast and very kind.

Best Mexican food anywhere!

El Tenanpa is my favorite Mexican restaurant around. Honestly the salsa here alone is good enough for me. The food quality here is always amazing and the ingredients are always nice an fresh. Their menu is huge so there is sure to be something for everyone.
