Restaurant received great reviews so decided to try it. Put our name in with one person in front of us. Few minutes go by and more people come and start putting their names in. After about 30 minutes first person there gets called in. 10 minutes later they call names of people that showed up after us. I say something politely to make sure our name is on the list. I’m rudely told yes and you are next. Fast forward ahead 4 more couples are taken ahead of us. At this point we are waiting for an hour. I go ask again and the one girl says to another “their name somehow got crossed off the list”. I understand mistakes happen. Especially in a time when reduced capacities are met. But to wait over an hour and have multiple people taken in front of you when you politely ask after it happens first time is completely unacceptable. We didn’t want to make a scene in front of other customers so we left and called number. Asked to speak to manager/owner. We were told that information couldn’t be given to us and then they proceeded to place us on hold and not come back to line. We visit Cape May frequently and have always wanted to try this place. You have lost customers and will definitely tell others of our experience

First I called at 7:30pm with no answer and mailbox full. Finally at 7:45 I got through and after my order was taken I was told they could not accommodate me because they were closing at 8. I explained that I called numerous times but that did not help my case. I heard the cook in the background tell her that they could not take the order. I am used to good and caring service, do not expect to get this at this restaurant. During this Pandemic you would think any restaurant would be grateful for your business. George’s Place is not that place. With that being said their food is very good however I find it hard accepting their dismissive and rude policy. If you go be prepared.

First I called to ask about the specials. I was told they didn’t have specials and to review the menu online. There was a bogo special going on when I got there. I called later to order and it went straight to voicemail and I had to go there and order. When I told the waitress she was dismissive. Then when I paid he kept my change when tip is included in the check. It is written small on the signs and people are tipping double without being aware. I found it odd gratuity is included for take out. I normally tip 20% for good service. But I did not feel they even deserved one because they made me feel as if I were bothering them. I also waited outside for my order when it was sitting there ready. I finally got back in the long line to pay. I work in cape May and I went there on my lunch break. I wish they called names when orders are ready. Lastly, the food is delicious and I hope to have a better experience and customer service next time.

The gyro salad was good but I don’t feel it was worth $30 for two people. Also pita bread should have been toasted. Very cramped and the bathroom needed a little TLC. I also didn’t know it was cash only until we went to pay, and had to walk to another restaurant to use their ATM. The food was 4/5 but experience overall was 3/5.

We are huge fans of George‘a, bit last night August 5 our meal and service did not live up to our expectations. We both ordered salads and no apps. Our salads arrived with our meal and not in advance as normally served. My husband ordered Blue Fin Tuna which was the $28 special He requested it be prepared medium rare as the last time he ordered it it was too rare but delicious. When it arrived it was minimally done medium. It had to be returned. They prepared another piece and we are pretty sure it wasn’t even Blue Fin this time. It’s taste was completely different from the first time. I ordered the crab cakes which were good, but I have had better. Overall this meal was fairly disappointing. They weren’t overly busy so I don’t know what the real problem was. I had never seen our waiter before so perhaps he added to the confusion with the salads. He didn’t seem to have the best listening skills as he forgot things we had asked for and needed to be reminded. I think we will take a break from dining there for a bit.
