Wharton State Park camping site

Pretty site with easy access to the Wading River launch at Hawkins Bridge. Much quieter than Godfrey Bridge campground down the road. Each site has a fire ring, but — unlike most other public campsites in the area — no picnic table. And the check-in procedure is inconvenient: you have to show up in person at one of two offices that have limited hours and are each a 20+ minute drive from the site. So if your plan is to paddle or tube the Wading River starting at Hawkins Bridge, this is a good place to camp so you can get an early start. Otherwise, pass.

Great place. No picnic tables. Bathrooms are rough. Nature is nice, tails are fun.

Love the park ud83dude0d enjoyed the driving through the woods but rangers are not as friendly anymore.

After reading the only other review on here I felt compelled to add my perspective. This is a beautiful campsite and it's really quite secluded considering how convenient it is to Philadelphia and other population centers. Seems to be well maintained. There is an outhouse and every site has fire pits set up for cooking! As a side note for the other reviewer, sometimes there are bugs in the woods :) I haven't found any ticks yet myself but I did wear long pants/sleeves and brought lots of bug spray. Very highly recommended!

Very secluded and clean. Great camping. I wouldn't advise coming here if you don't like rugged camping.
