I moved to the greater StL area about 6 years ago - the house we bought in Chesterfield ended up having all sorts of electrical gremlins and poor electrical supply layout throughout the house. I luckily stumbled onto a recommendation for Born Electric - called them out to overcome the first roadblock, the kitchen had only one 2 plug outlet and it was a horrible constraint to operate with! I have since had Born do four different projects at my house, ranging from external power around the house (3 new boxes cut through the brick facing, install, weather proofed, and new lines run to them), to new circuits for deep freezer and for additional garage power, to an automated-on yard light pole (day-night sensor), to 3 new ceiling fans put into the kids' bedrooms. On every single occasion, Born staff (technicians and office alike) has been WONDERFUL - a true customer satisfaction success story! Their professionalism, their efficiency on the various jobs, their costs, and their communication are all off the charts in my eyes. I would give them my highest recommendation possible - and have to at least 3 other friends that have used them on my recommendation now.
Born Electric is the BEST! I can't say enough awesome things about the company, the way they conduct business, the friendliness of BILLY, our technician and their high level of customer service. They always exceed our expectations.nMike Flotken
They do anything from fans to home security cameras and we've always found them to have the best price.
I used Born Electric for a relatively small job. The work by Mr. Born’s associate seems to be fine. My problem with Mr. Born stems from overcharging. When Mr. Born came to do an estimate (which was free as were the other estimates I received), I believed Mr. Born to be honest and upfront. We were told that he charged 80 - 82 dollars per hour and that the work would entail at least one day, possibly running into a second day.nWhen I received Mr. Born’s proposal. it was for the total job, not broken down into the specific detail (per job). The main part of the job would be to run a dedicated line from the basement to our living room. When I asked Mr. Born on the phone why he was not charging me by the hour (and additionally for parts) he told me he charges what’s most advantageous to the customer.nWhen the associate came he did all the work excluding two jobs. He did not run a dedicated line (just changed the outlet to GFCI) as I did not need a dedicated line. All the work was done in a span of 4 hours (actually less as Mr. Born’s associate was outside for a bit). The parts that were used were at most $110 (based on Home Depot Prices). Mr. Born credited me a $150 although he himself said that the dedicated line alone would take about 4 hours. In essence, Mr. Born gave me a credit of $150 for a job that should have cost me $320, but which wasn’t done.nMr. Born also did not do the grounding of the gas pipe which he was included in his bid. He gave me a credit me for $100. Mr. Born explained that electricians don’t do this type of work. As a licensed and experienced electrician I wonder why Mr. Born included this job in his bid that he wouldn’t do?nTo summarize: while the work that was done seems to be quality work, Mr. Born way overcharged according to the information he provided me (about $200 after the credits he gave me). Additionally, why did he bid on a job that he claimed afterward is not in an electrician’s purview. For these reasons I am giving my experience with Born Electric a rating of 1. Please be very careful of what Mr. Born tells you at the time of estimate as opposed to what he actually charges.
One of their techs just passed me and my family on a 2 lane road using the oncoming lane of traffic. I know you are in a hurry to get home but it is not worth endangering peoples lives.
