Awesome place to take your car! I have been here a couple of times now and have always been treated wonderfully by their staff. Pricing is very fair and they explain everything they are going to do to your car and what will be the best value for you. I had an electrical issue fixed recently and they even threw in a free tail light! Won't take my car anywhere else!
I got a coupon in the mail for a $14.99 oil change so I gave them a shot. I was told I needed to purchase a more expensive oil which I declined. I just wanted a $14.99 oil change. They offered to top off my fluids for an additional $4 so I told them to go ahead. The service tech came out and showed me two of my air filters and I will admit that they were pretty nasty. He suggested I replace them and I told him to go ahead. Here's where it gets good. The other tech comes out with my bill and it's $160.79! Say what? They tried to charge me $39.99 for one filter and $49.99 for the other with a $20.00 labor charge per filter. The bill also included an oil change for $25.99 and a tire rotation for $16.00. Hmmm, a tire rotation was never even mentioned and again, the oil change was supposed to be $14.99. Needless to say, they were instructed to put my original air filters back on and I walked away after paying $23.99 for my oil change and top off. The next day I went to use my washer fluid and it was empty. No top off was done apparently. Worst service I've ever experienced and I will advise anyone who will listen not to ever go there.
Got my breaks done and they are great now. Made an appointment for only a free break inspection( love that it was free.) after they told me everything that needed tho be done I decided to go ahead and get them done right there and then. It was a really busy day and they were short handed. I didn't have a problem with that. My time waiting was only 2 hours. Considering they were really busy and short handed I was impressed with the wait time. Thank God I had a book with me. They also provided their WiFi password which was good for when i used my phone. They guy who worked on my car was nice and did an amazing job. The woman who runs the office was also really nice and did mind joking around or having a conversation when she wasn't busy. I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.
Worst Service in 20 years. Had a brake coupon. Got a call from the mechanic saying that I would like the cheap break service and that I wanted the lifetime if I did not want my brakes squeaking from day one. My car is 4 yrs old with about 60 k on it. Lifetime sounds good right, wrong. They charge you for turning your rotors if you want the warranty $20 dollars a side. After the first year they charge you labor fees that cost almost as much as a regular brake job...can you say scam. Ok I look at the rotors and they look like they have been hit with a drill or something. Rotors were nice and smooth when I brought the car in and now I can see the grinding marks on them and they feel really rough. I ask the mechanic if he checked the thickness before he turned the rotors. He says no and ask why, so I asked if he checked the thickness after he turned the rotors afterward, and again he asked why. I answer so you can know if the rotors are too thin to be turned again. I am thinking that mechanics usually did this, I guess I have been changing my own brakes too long to notice when all this changed. Secondly how would you know how much metal you have taken off, for safety reasons. Mechanic says nobody checks the thickness of rotors what are you a mechanic or something. No but apparently neither was he or at least not a good one. Long story short the brakes sound worse coming out of there then going to the shop. It had the sound of brakes that had gone too long without changing, you know that metal on metal sound. So we took the car for an inspection of the brakes to several shops. Mind you this is almost immediately after we had the work done. They all wrote the same thing on the ticket. The rotors need to be redone and the brakes need to be replaced. The brakes in the back that they did not touch look perfect. Now I am guessing the gimmick is to force them to come back for additional service by causing additional problems. Do not work Calvert's we are never letting you touch another part of any of our cars and we will be letting everyone know. $175 dollars for brakes that are worse than what we started with and the need to possible have to replace our rotors also. Be careful with these guys, now that I have started asking around I hearing the bad reputation this place has.nnGood Luck
Took our car to Calvert's on Wednesday because we found a coupon for new brakes with service for $60. After James looked over the car for a moment, he determined that the coupon did not apply to the cars needs and that it would actually cost $587 for new brakes. The car is a 2001 Chevy. But we need brakes, so he asked for $100 to order the part. After leaving (near closing time) and discussing it, we decided not to go forward with the repairs. Called back the next morning when they opened to notify them that we would not be using them for repairs and was notified that we could not get our $100 back. The part had not been ordered and, even if it had, auto repair shops return parts ALL THE TIME. I called back again to ask James what exactly the $100 was for if the repairs were not going to be done AND we could not collect the part. He said that it was for ordering the part. Now I've never worked at an auto shop, but in other companies where frequent orders/shipments are being made, the company DOES NOT pay for individual shipping. I'm certain this is the case at Calvert's, but they're business practices are obviously crooked. After writing reviews to warn potential customers NOT TO DO BUSINESS HERE, I am going to file a complaint with Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley and urge anyone who has suffered loss of hard earned money for no reason to Calvert's. Thieves should not be tolerated and handled by the proper authorities.
