Very peaceful and beautiful too. This is one of the nicest state parks in the west I've seen. Even if you don't get out on the lake it's a great place to hang out and watch the world go by. UPDATE:. Failed to mention that in early summer the ticks here are very bad. You can actually see them crawling through the grass so beware.

It's my first time in North Dakota. After being eaten alive by mosquitoes on Graham Island, I was pretty sure it was my last visit. But then I came here. Our RV lot (126) was spacious and well maintained. The swimming beach was nice even though the water was cold. But I imagine all the water must be cold this far north. We walked along the lovely shoreline trail. It's windy and in mid July the weather was in the 70's. I would definitely visit here again.

Great for anyone who enjoys being on or near the water. Gorgeous sunsets and super-long mid-summer days/evenings this far north. Several sweet walking trails that are pretty and well maintained, including the beginning of the North Country Trail that runs to Vermont. Really nice staff and campground hosts. Facilities are generally clean and well maintained. Gets busy/noisy on summer weekends, as is typical of any state park. Park abuts large Garrison embankment dam that creates this enormous reservoir that extends NW to near Williston.

The park rangers were really nice, good food locations surrounding the park. The lake was really fun to go fishing and rafting on, I would like to have sewage hookups in the modern campsites. Great place.

We started over the memorial day weekend. The campground was full yet very quiet and peaceful. Campsites are spaced very far apart and guess are maintained. My only complaint is there bathhouse closed at ten pm and didn't report until six am. Also, the rangers aren't enforcing that pets need to be kept on a leash and that campers need to pick up after their pets. The campground even provides pooh bags by the restrooms. Be considerate and pick up after your pet. Others don't want to step in it.
