The Family Campground on Current River

Communication between staff is not good. I will say that the two men that put boats in were extremely helpful. The women at the desk were nice and tried to be helpful but it just seemed to be one thing after another. We booked lots 114 and 115 and weren't shown our campsites when we arrived, so they came down and told us the 2nd day that we were in the wrong spot and to move as it was storming. The 115 spot has a skunk den so we just decided to take the $135 loss and pack up and leave. Our campsite was full of skunks which didn't bother me a whole lot but I was not prepared to move closer to their home and potentially have one of my kids get sprayed. It was also upsetting to find out that they had a policy change as of the weekend we arrived, that they not longer pick up people who bring their own floatation devices and want to float down the river. They did honor for us because we had been told otherwise but we ended up just spending the money on getting two rafts from them and getting picked up. We ended up spending over $600 just to camp in tents (no electric or water just primitive) and float the 3 hours. It was super disappointing for our 4 families, who drove 5 hours. There were so many extra expensive fees it wouldn't be our choice next time. I wanted to love the place but unfortunately did not. The gravel bar was beautiful and I did appreciate the kindness of the staff I just felt very wronged in the situation as we had to leave early and refunds aren't an option.

Do not recommend and not staying again. When we made reservations they said our site was the only site available, which was difficult to get into due to water levels, they put a large group of tent campers right next to us when less than 75% of the RV sites were occupied the weekend we visited. Laundry facilities were not working and this was not disclosed when asked during reservations(nearest laundromat 20mile away). There dump station doesnt work, you either have to back into a full hookup site(if open) and or have them trailer dump you(they charge extra for both. They also had a noisy group/residence living nearby playing profane music, not necessarily famil friendly. Go somewhere else!

We made reservations Saturday night and arrived Sunday. We floated all day Sunday so we didn't get to our cabin until later than evening. There were dirty towels and dust all around the door frames. the bed sheets were dirty and had hair all over them. We called and they offered us a refund and said we would get it 24-48 hours later. We left to find another hotel room and got a text Monday morning saying that we wouldn't get a refund because the owner said he couldn't refund us. When we arrived Sunday we were told they were short staff and couldn't give us a ride to float. Which was fine and we understood, however, we didn't realize that meant they were too short staffed to clean our cabin. Very unprofessional. I'm not sure that's how I would want to run a business.

We stayed over the 4th and was worried about a busy holiday weekend. We couldn't of been more satisfied and so glad we picked this location. The river is amazing and everyone that came up to us made us feel at home. We will be back for many more visits.

Campground was ok. Bathrooms were not cleaned and out of tp most of the weekend. Young guy working the counter on Monday morning when we left was EXTREMELY rude and very unprofessional. He was telling me that he was very disappointed that we tried ripping them off because we was asking for money back on a tub we sent back up to the store because we did not need it. Even had the audacity to call me a liar! We are a large group of working people that abide by ALL the rules and him calling us thieves is Not ok! We will never stay there again as their are 50 different campgrounds with excellent staff.
