Washington Marlatt Memorial Park at Top of the World

A poor man’s Konza Prairie, lol.  But seriously, this is a nice opportunity to go hiking on irregular terrain and experience wild prairie within city limits.  Konza is a much longer drive from just about everywhere in Manhattan so this is a nice and close substitute.  The trails are not paved and consist almost entirely of mowed grass so it’s a good site if you’d like to train for a backpacking excursion or just want something more strenuous than a simple walk.

This park is a fantastic walk if you have pets. It's pretty quiet and feels remote with so much open prairie. It's a quick loop if you want just a quick jaunt, but is great too for picnicking.
