Quivira National Wildlife Refuge

An absolute gem on the plains of Kansas. It was our first trip and before we left we started planning our next trip. A very calming experience.

Wonderful Wildlife Refuge full of an abundance of birds, deer, and reptiles. As well there are some nice nature walks.

You will NOT get Whooping Cough from the Whooping Cranes so enjoy yourself!

Quivira is a very nice location if you wish to see lots of local wildlife. However there is not much else. If you wish to visit be prepared to simply drive through in your vehicle, as it is multiple miles long and not recommended to walk. There is a hiking trail, which does have nice views, but is not easy to find and is not well maintained. Good for about 45 - 60 minutes of a slow drive through.

One of the best wildlife areas I've been to. Teeming with life and well worth the trip. I would recommend arriving near after sunrise, or near close to sunset to see the most action.
