Mount Mitchell Heritage Prairie

Pretty fun little walk in the Flint hills of central Kansas. Good view of the prairie and exercise makes for a great spot to visit.

Great little place. Absolutely AMAZING view from the top of Mount Mitchell. I really have to wonder what the view would have been like for the first settlers in this area: oceans of waist-high (or higher) prairie grass with only occasional clumps of trees, not a single modern structure for miles around.nnOnly a couple minor criticisms: First there are no trash cans here (unless the large twisted scrap of metal near the picnic tables was the trash can). More importantly, no bathrooms/outhouses on the site.nnAlso, I didn't exactly feel too safe on the road here: a single lane dirt track with a couple blind corners. The entire drive both to and from the park I was terrified of meeting another car head-on.
