A beautiful space to enjoy nature - for individuals, couples and especially families (plenty of open space for children to run and play).nnThe gravel road that leads to the park, readies you to think of a simpler time the space memorializes while allowing you to enjoy nature, as it is, the moments you are there.nnThe park had changed significantly since I had last been there. Still beautiful, still a reverent space and still a place to refresh your soul. The beautiful changes transformed the extreme rustic space into a meaningful memorial space via much work - spearheaded by area KofCs with the support by others.nnGrounds are respectfully maintained, meaningful structures as well as thoughtful remembrances were added and history was marked succinctly to create a respectful memorial to the Native American lives lost on the 'Trail of Death' from Indiana, Illinois, Missouri to, and on, this Kansas destination. It also honors the hope brought to the Native Americans by many priests and religious and especially a 72 year old nun, sent to help them, in the mid 1800s, who became a Saint known for her deep love for the Native Americans she served.nnIt is a beautiful park into which respectful rememberances have been blended. You can sit and take it all in, stroll along the trails, pray at the grottos and stations and/or marvel at the pure joy of your children as they enjoy the space.nnHowever you spend your time, you will likely experience a sense of awe, sacredness, comfort, joy and Peace.nnSt. Rose Philippine Duchesne, pray for us.nnRecommendations: Bring snacks/food and drinks to satiate children, or you, as those aren't readily available.nNotes: There are 2 side-by-side out-house style (with toilet seats) facilities.
Nice place to camp and hike with nice fire ring
Love this place! It's beautiful and has the only clear water I know of in KS. It's difficult to get ahold of a camping permit because you have to call a church and leave a voicemail so PLAN AHEAD if possible. Otherwise 5 starud83dudc4c
Beautiful place. Sad history. Quiet trails. Altogether a good place for solitude and contemplation.
A great historical treasure hiding in South eastern KS. A must see, not if your in the area but make a special trip to see! This is a destination park. You can easily spend and hour exploring the site!
