Old Military Trail (OMT)

Good hiking trails, starting from the OMT trailhead, the trails are in good condition. I also did 2 miles from group campground trailhead. That isn't used as much, so you rely on the trail blaze markers more.

A fun hike through mature trees a fair amount of birds also.

There is zero trail maintenance on the OMT. Trees have fallen across the trail and some are dangerous hazards that hang above the trail. The trail signage was not too bad but there are places where the trail isn’t even visible. This is pretty sad as it is one of the few long trails near me where I can overnight.

Trail ran through mile 27 and 28 between Slough Creek Park and the boat ramp. Faint trail that goes through grassy meadows and woods. Hope to come back soon to backpack the whole 30 mile or so trail before it gets too overgrown. This trail is best done between the months of September and April to avoid all of the foliage.
