Perry Wildlife Area

There's not much public land in Kansas, so wildlife areas like this one are a real treat. These areas are of interest to more than hunters. There are plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities, and in season, a surprisingly good wildflower display. I would suggest non hunters avoid the area during hunting seasons. Don't expect to find manicured hiking trails. But if you're willing to work around these limitations, you can have a rewarding visit. Sunflowers are planted to attract doves for the fall hunting season, but you'll have the flowers to yourself when they bloom, usually in July.
