Self pay state park(at the time I visited), highlighting a unique rock formation in the Kansas countryside. Fun spot to stop and stretch your legs, but not something that would be a full day stop. The brochure gives you a run down on how the spheres ended up in Kansas so grab one and read up!
Spectacular! We really enjoyed stopping here and we took some amazing photos. Be sure to see both sides of the park separated by the road. It is on a well maintained dirt road. There are even toilets here although I didn’t try them.
If you are coming in from the Ellsworth area be aware of the train tracks. Go slow, my 30 mph was way to fast and ruined my vehicle alignment. The park itself is a great little day trip. Very cool rocks and nice scenery. It's really too bad the humans of this world decided to carve into them, ruined the ancient vibe of the rock formations. Vault toilets were kept up well enough and they had a couple of trash cans. I had to pick up a couple of stray cans that people had left behind but it's part for the course with natural areas. It is quite small in general so don't plan on this being a place you spend several hours. We were done checking everything out in about 30 minutes. From Hays it's about 1hr15min, so a 2.5 hour round trip but definitely worth the windshield time.
A tiny park with some unique rock formations. Highly recommend watching a sunrise here, it's very peaceful and amazing to watch the sun rise over the rocks. The park is on both sides of the road, make sure to take a look at both areas! Looking forward to the chance to go back again.
What cool formations! Well worth the short drive off the highway. Check out Rock City Park near Minneapolis Kansas. I did them in the same day while driving thru Kansas.
