Gyp Hills Scenic Drive

Very interesting. Quite different than other areas in Kansas. We didn't find a walking trail around, but maybe there was one or more.

Pretty drive through red dirt and scattered white rocks. Starting at the eastern entrance from highway 160, just west of Medicine Lodge, the road is paved for the first five miles or so. This is also probably the most scenic stretch of the 20-some mile drive. If you continue west where the sign tells you to turn, it becomes dirt roads. I went just after a storm and the road was still damp in places. If you are uncomfortable driving in slick conditions, do not take this portion after a rain! If your vehicle can handle a little mud, it's a good drive.
