The staff is always nice, and I like that they’ve come up with some unique drinks (which they change often). They’re also doing their part to be more sustainable, which is amazing to see. They have nailed their aesthetic for sure. Everything is super Instagrammable. I do like the clean minimalist style but don’t find it to be a very comforting vibe for working or hanging out very long.

I visited Horizon Line for the first time today, and I'm looking forward to coming back!nMy shot of espresso was outstanding - one of the best I've had anywhere, let alone in Iowa, where third wave coffee is a bit hard to come by. Very pleasant bright acidity up front, with some nice complexity in the finish, and a smooth (almost creamy) body. I am not a barista myself, but I know it isn't easy to pull off a great light-roast espresso like this.nOn top of the great espresso, Brad was super friendly - and when he picked up from my comments that I am a bit of a coffee geek, he took the time to chat with me about their beans and process, which was I thought was really gracious (and interesting, too!).nI didn't have the opportunity to try a filter coffee today, but I did take some beans home - they have a nice selection of single-origin coffees, including a micro-lot Ethiopian that I can't wait to brew up.

Visiting from California while my daughter checks out Drake and their rowing team and we were very pleased to find this place. Coffee is top notch 2nd wave and their honor system returnable glass cups with screw on lids and neoprene cozies made my heart sing. It's an evolution of 70's food co-op culture that isn't stuffy or preachy but is just so righteous.

I have tried a lot of the coffee in Central Iowa, and hands down Horizon Line has the best coffee I've had in Iowa. True experts at the craft and a genuine care for the environment with an awesome glass jar program for to-gos! You can order online for fast pick up, too. This is the place to go!
