Second time doing business with these guys and they got the job done within a timely matter, showed up with mask and educated us alone the way. Couldn’t ask for a better tech! Nick, was his name! Customer service was EXCELLENT! Thanks for getting the job done, Nick!

Called them to solve a breaker that kept tripping. The guy had it figured out in less than a minute and fixed in about 10 mins. So electrician was fine. When he left he said they'd bill us for a half hour, which I thought was also fine. When we got the bill, it showed a $150 labor charge, plus tax. I called to ask why and got some nonsense answer, and that they'd have to talk to the electrician. Later got a revised bill for $100 labor. Every other qualified electrician I've used in Iowa City charges $60/hr. (both on my residence and rental units). These guys apparently charge $200-$300 per hour. I wil not be using again. Ever.

I would have to say the owner takes great pride in his work. He also has an A team that makes sure things are done properly and I was impressed with the fact that they go over everything to make sure you are happy before they leave.

I called and made an appointment to have an electrician move three outlets up the wall for mounted televisions. Homewood Electric was able to get us into their schedule quickly, which I appreciated. Two electricians came to our house, which surprised me since that wasn't mentioned when I scheduled and we've had this type of work done before for TVs (I assumed one was an apprentice). They worked from 7:50-11:15 (just under 3.5 hours). We received a bill for $745.07, $600 of which was labor. I called to see if it was a mistake, compared to the rates I've paid for electricians in the last two years (moving outlets, changing light fixtures, complete rewiring for kitchen remodel, etc.) Homewood Electric assured me the total was correct, and that they rounded up to four hours labor because they charged for travel time. I'm just flabbergasted. Last time we paid an electrician approximately $110 to move an outlet. Wish I would have been forewarned that they were sending two at the full hourly rate each.

Had a very similar experience as Donna. They are very overpriced for the work they do. I would strongly advise you look into another company before calling them.
