The water was very cold today but that's not the usual temperature. I had a good time enjoying the large pool, talking with the other patrons and even a lifeguard. Everyone is friendly and respectful at this pool. No one takes anyone's property either. If you just want to relax by yourself, you can do that also. Kid and family friendly also. Great place to spend a summer afternoon or evening!

Island park is one of the best parks in town! Beautiful landscape right down the hill from lively downtown fargo. The bike/walking path will take you to any one of the amenities the park has. Starting with the main staple, the sland park pool. You can't miss the wooden, maze like deck seating area as you walk the path to the 4 tennis courts. There is a nice size jungle gym with swings and also the gazebo.000000

I love the nature in this park, the rolling hills and the mature trees. There is a wide diversity of people who come here.

Island Park is a very unique lap swimming experience. To begin with, it's 50 meters so double the length of most pools. Also, there aren't floating lane markers so it makes it a bit more chaotic when it's busy and sharing 'lanes'.nnWith that said, I love this place. While it's older it's kept up, outdoor and is the closest you'll get to an open water swim. Why?... Because when it's busy during lap swim there's a good wave chop on the water to feel like your open water swimming. Also, there tends to be some leaves and sticks in the water being it's an outdoor pool in a wooded area... All adds to the lap swimming experience in my opinion. It's my favorite lap swimming pool in the area.nnIt might not be for rookie swimmers as it's 50 meters and you need to know how to properly share a 'lane' if crowded.. But just ask another swimmer if needed. Don't be shy, give this pool a try during lap swim hours...might just become your favorite too.
