It is a beautiful state park off in its own little world. A very pretty view on the drive out and huge campgrounds for staying. We stayed at Howard Campground.nnThere were lots of trails for walking, fishing if you are into that and parks for kids. The swimming area was pretty green and gross, but we found other things to entertain the kids. The campsites were large and well taken care of. We had all the amenities we needed with no issue! We were close to shower house, which was nice as well. The visitor's center was also a great perk if you needed anything and didn't want to go into town.nnWe were a little frustrated with not being able to set up a small tent on the same site as our camper. They stated one unit per site, but many other sites, that were not group sites, had multiple units. Frustrating that it seemed they singled us out to not have this same privilege as many others did. A beautiful place we would like to return to, however.
Park was surprisingly clean for lack of trash cans. Showers were very nice and hot. Devil's lake itself was having a bit of algae here and there but the wind helped that out the next day. Yes there are mosquitoes. Like most state parks but bug spray helps with that. Mayflies weren't as bad as people were saying but you could hear them buzzing at night. Primitive site was super nice. Overall a nice park to stay.
The place has awesome sites with grass and plenty of shade in the old sections of the camp sites. The new sites are mostly like a trailer park with no shade but a place to park and enjoy the surrounding area sites. Each time we entered the park we were met with momma deer and her 2 siblings. Was awesome.
Really beautiful ND state park on the shores of Devils Lake. I camped there for four nights. Great boating and fishing spot. The park is manicured. It really is a beautiful spot. The park is about 10 miles south west of the city of Devils Lake.
Very pretty landscape , well kept. The primitive camping sites are beautiful and they have a few surrounded by trees that are very well secluded if you like your privacy. Theres a swimming area and a fish cleaning station , the swimming are is pretty nice. Very much enjoyed my stay the staff was friendly.
