This is a bit of a gem in the middle of a very developed area that can be rewarding for novice to experienced hikers alike.nnI used the roads on the southern end of the park to ascend to the top of the Indian Head peak. It was a lightly wet day with the surfaces covered in leaves and I felt confident and enjoyed the trip even carrying a bit of a kit with me. My view at the top was fairly misty and the late autumn setting added a nice touch to the experience.nnI would recommend at least an hour visit here just to have a decent taste of it. You will need several hours to walk the whole park and appreciate multiple views from the peaks. I did have a walk along part of the river flowing through it which is worth it by itself, but seeing New Haven city skyline from some height is what makes this location worthwhile.nnI'm holding back on 5 stars for 2 minor reasons. It's not a real escape from the city hustle and bustle as it's all very audible from everywhere in the park. And, I would have to advise using safety measures if you're going it alone here - it is possible to get hurt (slipping/ falling/ wildlife encounter) without anyone else in earshot.

A great park for a walking, biking or just relaxing. It has a bunch of trails. There is a lot to see. There’s a beautiful water fall. There’s also a cool monument at the top of the mountain. You can take a path that gradually leads up to it or take a staircase that has 130 step, give or take. I did the stair case. Wow! Definitely bring some water and snacks.

The park offers plenty of gorgeous hiking trails along the water where you will often see people on kayaks. The park is huge, my wife and I love discovering new sections of the trail! Currently several roads around it are closed providing hikers with lots of room to maintain social distancing.

Really great park! Near the Eli whitney museum. Full of trails to walk up and around. Goes in and out of neighborhoods and there is a big hill to hire up. There's pretty bridge overlooking a river which you can also boat on at your own risk. Slot of places to explore! In addition to the trails to hike the hill to climb, and the river to boat on, there's a rose garden that is very nice. A good place to spend time for casual and avid hikers as well as anyone looking to spend time in a field
