The rules are a bit sctrict but the lake and cross pond vinyard are worth it.
A beautiful lake with plenty to do. The fishing is good and the water is clear. Friendly park staff and ample parking. They have a nice campground near the water and a rental shack for kayaks and canoes. The beach area is on the small side, but clean and nice overall. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because they're really isn't a lot of public access to the lake for people who shore fish.
Nice park on a pretty lake. I stopped by on the weekend when the campground seemed almost full but camped during the week. This week looked quite different than the weekend I was here. Plenty of room to roam about, a quiet lake and a much less traveled road around the lake which makes for a more enjoyable bicycle peddle. I would not recommend bicycling the road around the lake with young children as the road is narrow and shared with motor vehicles. Also, lots of narrow bends in the road. Campground and facilities are well maintained. Sites are WOW, large. There's a short walking/hiking trail along the backside.nI camped here specifically to paddleboard but, sadly, no one from the rental company showed up at the rental station on any of the three days I was here. Their posted days and hours indicate they should have been open and available to rent. To clarify, although the rental company operates from the state park, the state park is NOT responsible for the kayak, canoe and paddleboard rentals.nMisty was managing the park during my stay. She was professional, friendly, kind and helpful. Thanks Misty, for adding to my positive camping experience.nYou will quickly learn...no cell service, no internet access, NO JOKE!nUnplug and enjoy the peace!!
Fall foliage has peaked here and it is beautiful!nCamped here when I was a kid some 55 years ago. Used to walk around the lake in the evening back to camp. Closed now .nHope to see them open next season.
Great little state park. There is good space to rest in the shade by the beach. Swimming area is tiny but many went past the rope, where it is still safe and clean. Kayaks, canoe and paddle renting is affordable and equipment is OK.
