This beautiful memorial to the soldiers that were from the greatest generation in on Iwo Jima Way and is off of the Ella Grasso Blvd. It is a quiet area, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is a nice place to go and reflect and be thankful for the freedoms we enjoy as Americans.
Amazing memorial. Found out today that the rocks are actually from the spot where they raised the flag. The whole memorial was funded and mostly built by the survivors. Truly a special place.nn**Some of the last Iwo Jima survivers**
This monument is a powerful contribution by survivors, families, and more in remembrance of the Battle of Iwo Jima. The groundskeeper is a friendly devil-dog and had plenty of info to share. His wife was a real gem, too! Stop by and say hi. Remember those who served.
