Nelson's Family Campground

Tried going to another nearby campground, but for some reason they don't allow tenting this summer... Bizarre. Anyway, I called Nelson's and I was given a site and all necessary information (including online payment, WiFi info, bathroom key codes) within 5 minutes.nnSuper clean sites and bathroom. Awesome location. I'll for sure be booking again when I'm in the area.nnAlso, I'm reading other peoples' reviews and you just gotta appreciate Michelle's responses. Man, some people suck.nnOnly suggestion would be maybe add some more garbage cans. Maybe they were around and I'm stupid and/or blind. Both possible.

We are new seasonals as of this year and this place is absolutely amazing. The sites are varied between shaded, open, big, small, whatever you personally prefer. The staff are beyond amazing. I’m am 14 and the staff are so friendly to me as a teenager. They are always checking up on you and willing to start a conversation and get to know you. They are mainly teenagers from roughly 18-21 and they are extremely caring and experienced. The owners are spectacular. We were supposed to go for a weekend and within an hour we went from staying for a month to becoming a seasonal and they didn’t have an open sight for us to become seasonal. So we were all sitting around the fire and a car pulled up onto our sight and a lady got out. It turned out to be the owner Michelle and she came over to us and told us we can have their sight and have it up to us so we can become seasonal. We also became seasonal halfway through the season so we only had to pay half the price. But overall this is the best campsite I’ve ever been to!

This campground is literally the worst I’ve ever been to the owners are extremely rude! My family who are seasonal will not be coming back next summer I’ve told everyone I know don’t waste your time or money on this awful place. The owners need to get a better staff that doesn’t lie! And they also need to learn how to treat people with respect! If I could I would give this place zero stars! And I will be reporting this place!

I've been going to Nelson's for years and I absolutely love it! It is such a great place for parents to chill with friends and for kids to meet new people.

I grew up at this campground, and it has always been my fav place. The campsites are spacious, lots of activities to do here, clean pool, clean facilities, basketball court, soccer field, arcade games, and not to mention its right next to Lake Pocotopaug (which has places you can rent kayaks and paddle boards). It’s also not far from the Salmon River and Devil’s Hopyard, which are both great hiking places. PLUS Michelle, Glenn, their family and the campground staff are so nice!
