Lots free parking for CT residents, great boardwalk, haven't been to the other bldgs yet, but they appear to be in great shape, so I suspect they're maintained like the rest of the Park. The park # is online if you use Google Maps for finding their cite, it'll call there for ya! WARNING: You may only get recorded messages.

Charles Island is accessible by sand bar at lowtide from Silver Sands State Park, but be cautious, the tide comes back in quickly and people can become stuck on the island, or worse, swept off the sand bar as the tide comes in by the strong current. Make sure to enjoy this Island as soon as the tide goes out, walk around the outside of the island and come back in quickly. The inside of the island is not accessible because it contains nesting birds. It is also nice to visit the island by water craft!
