Hills Creek State Park was fantastic for our little family getaway. The campground was a little hard to navigate at first, but it was beautifully laid out with lots of space in between campsites. I loved how clean the bathrooms were. The fire rings at our campsites had built-in grates off to the side of them which were perfect for holding cast iron skillets and a kettle.nWe rented canoes from the concession stand for an hour and saw a bald eagle along the shoreline of the lake. We also spotted a few falcons, which were really cool to see.nPark rangers frequently patrolled the area and at one point stopped by to let us know there was a bear in the area and lots of raccoons getting into campers' food. Very thoughtful of them.nThe campground is pretty close to a lot of hiking, but the state park itself only has 5 miles of hiking total (which was fine with us as we had little kids along).nThis is a great place to camp, whether you're looking to use it as a base for hiking excursions, watch wildlife, canoe/kayak, or just relax around a fire and enjoy being surrounded by beautiful PA hills.
Peaceful and clean
Very nice
Overall quiet, peaceful campground. Site 54 was excellent. NO ALCOHOL in any PA State Park which we didn’t know (we’re from Western NY). Only ONE vehicle per site which was a bit annoying because our family had their camper at a different spot due to site availability. We had to move to an overflow parking and walk to their site. We didn’t use the bath houses so I can’t comment on them. Friendly staff, nice fire rings adjustable cooking grates, and 8 person heavy picnic table. Nice hiking & biking trails (too many hills for me to bike on). Kayaking was nice, we didn’t use the beach, but neighbor caught some fish. We won’t return to a PA state campground only due to the no alcohol policy, but it does give the rangers a solid reason to kick people out if they get rowdy which is a plus.
Amazingly quiet and peaceful
