Lots of beautiful scenery. You never know what you might find. We saw a deer and some birds including cardinals, woodpeckers, titmouses, and chickadees. Need some good hiking boots (preferably waterproof). The terrain can be a bit rough and wet in places. Lots of cool plants as well can be seen there.

Went here today to hike the preserve. The trails are poorly marked and are not cut out much in a lot of places. The trail map doesn’t match some of the marked trails. The blue Weir Pond loop trail ends abruptly due to fallen trees with markers and no more blue marks on trees. The yellow trail is not marked, and we never found it. Instead, there was green mixed in with the white Nature Path trail. It almost seems like new signs were put up without taking down old ones. There is no lookout tower that we could find. I’ve wanted to hike here for years, and it was extremely disappointing. We have plenty of great trails near Binghamton, NY. I won’t be back.

We were encouraged by the good reviews, but unfortunately this trail seems to have not been maintained, and is overgrown with unavoidable poison ivy EVERYWHERE. We thought it might just be a brief portion of the trail, but it was throughout. Hope that it gets some care, as it would otherwise be a lovely trail!

The preserve offers an attractive walk through the woods with various rock features and forest settings. The trails were fairly overgrown, and did not shed water well (we hiked in the rain). It would be nice if there were trail maps, or distances posted on the signs. We will be back!
