We hiked around the area, about 9 miles or so. The forest has some really beautiful spots. The overlook and tower are a bit anticlimactic in my opinion, and more annoying is that some people are fairly rude in neither wearing masks or keeping distance (i.e. letting one family go up at a time...). But, the tale about Baughman Rocks is interesting and a surprise...
Pretty nice hike. However, you don't actually hike up the mountain (to the best of my knowledge). Rather, you drive up to the top of the mountain and can then hike a few trails around the summit. Nothing too challenging and quite a nice walk with young kids.
There's a great view at the top of the tower. The stairs are steep though, so coming down may be difficult for some.
The tower needs some tlc!nViews are nice! The information plaques are interesting...
We enjoyed the hike to The Summit. All Trails indicates 5.3 miles but it turned out to be 6. Trying to knock out each States Highpoint.
