20,000 acres of wheeling
Incredible outdoor playground for basically any ride of choice! Fun terrain for any caliber rider and really can be whatever you want to make of it. With all the acreage, you can really hop around to various parking areas and get the most out of your experience each time.
I rode there once and never again. This is a old strip mine that you ride on, everything is jagged rocks and mixed with coal dirt. When this coal dirt gets muddy it stains everything and is a nightmare to get off. The trails are not marked so good luck once you leave the parking lot and most of the trails either end or continue thru some more jagged rocks that you really don't want to go thru. I like riding and have no problem getting dirty, but not here.
Best riding in PA. Bad reviews on here who said they cant find trails must have not done much research on where to go on the land. 650 miles are available. Endless amount of trails. They are not marked, so you may find dend ends, but once you ride here a few times you will easily be able to tell whay trails go places and what are dead ends.
Drove up from Maryland to the Darkwater parking area. 3 sxs and 3 fourwheelers. We thought no matter what 22,000 acres is gonna be fun. It was not. We were hoping to trail ride, and any actual trail dead ends pretty quick and with no warning. The vadt majority of the riding is VERY rock roads.nThere are several fun play areas with hill climbs of all sizes, but definitely not a place if you want to ride trails.nNobody followed any kind of riding etiquette, people were flying around the parking areas making huge clouds of dust.nWe all went with high hopes, and were very disappointed. It may be really long, but it is very narrow and just not for us.
