The family enjoyed a great day walking through the park. The park is closed for camping, and no hunting is allowed on the land. Our boys had fun riding their bicycle, my wife and I walked with the dog. She enjoys going places anyway, and in case it needs to go #2 there are bags for you to clean up after them.

Loved the lake for over 50 years. It was much cleaner but ppl don't care anymore.nThey accommodate all the animal owners and give those with out animals one loop with no electric. I love animals but I don't want to hear them barking and trying to break the chain trying to Get the other dogs.nAnd it's not nice at all when the dogs are not on a Leash and being brought into the bathroom.

This is a beautiful serene spot in nature. The upkeep is horrible the roadway in is not paved and is filled with potholes very rough. The bathroom facility near our campsite was dirty, crowded, and always a line. No privacy, the doors dont latch properly toilets are in bad shape. The guests at the site next to us were up till 3 am talking laughing making all kinds of noise had two vehicles present which is clearly not aloud and during the day drinking alcohol which is also not aloud. No oversight of this... people should be checked better at the gate. I was only there for 1 night or I would have been down at the gate with my complaint list. The picnic table and bench was covered in moss and the table had mushrooms growing out of it. The fire pit was out of the normal area we had to rearrange ourselves. Very primitive here! The positives, its beautiful, nice hikes, beach was a hit for the kids. I would have liked it a little less crowded but I'm sure that fluctuates seasonally. Also if you are a noise sensitive person this is close to I-81 and you can hear the interstate traffic very loud at night. The state should put work into this place it's beautiful but the facilities need major updates.

Locust Lake State Park is a great place for walking anytime. The lake and surrounding trees are beautiful any season but especially in the fall. The colors of the maple trees by the lake are awesome. This is my favorite campground. It is peaceful and clean and the perfect mini-vacation.

Large campground spread around a small lake that's stocked with trout. The sites are small, close together, and of various grades. They all have fire rings, which is a plus, but foraging for wood is pretty impossible. You can buy it just outside the grounds for $5 a bundle but this adds cost. To me the hiking is a little lack luster, hiking up a power line ridge is less than scenic but the paved path around the lake was a hit. Cell phone service is hit or miss, I didn't have service but people were on there phones so I'll assume it was possible. Other downside was at night after everyone beds down you can hear interstate 81. With all that said the camp structures are super cool and most were built in the 1950's so very hip mid century vibes, maybe not super clean, but it's a busy place. It did seem that the campground just put a lot of money in new and pretty impressive playground equipment. The back loops to me seemed the most chill and I would definitely come back. This place would be great on a off weekend or even weekday.
