Spent Friday night the 18 of September and it was awesome! Definitely a bucket list item. The sky was stunning! If anyone on here was there and has pictures I would be interested in purchasing one. Please contact me at [email protected]. This was an amazing experience and I would love to have picture of my exact night there. So clear and the Milky Way, just so cool!

The night sky at the park was amazing! Though the camping exerpiance is exactly as described.... rustic. There were no showers at the park and only one bathroom with running water. There are other parks close by, and I would sugest camping at those parks as they have more amenities. You can still come to Cherry Springs at night for the amazing view as they have a public viewing area, or book one night in the overnight viewing area where they lock you in, but block out all light for maximum visibility!nThere is little to no hiking trails within Cherry Springs, but the camp right down the hill had over 8 miles of hiking trails as well as a small lake with swimming and kayak rentals!

Park and restrooms(glorified outhouses) were well maintained. No dogs allowed. Sky views as you already know are beautiful. Please take a red light. There was not cellophane available the evening we visited. We took an inexpensive small flashlight and colored the lense in with a red sharpie. If you want even less brightness and more red, add a piece of packing tape over the top and color that red as well. The visitors that had white light were definite distraction to many. Enjoy the relatively quiet viewing area

If you like stars and the sky, YOU HAVE TO VISIT CHERRY SPRINGS STATE PARK!!!nnI've been in the middle of the ocean on an Aircraft Carrier, no moon and I haven't seen the Milky Way this vibrant before.nThey have benches to sit at, volunteers to show you stuff and explain things for you.nnI'm telling you, if you plan it on a clear, no moon weekend, you'll be amazed!!nHotels are close, we drove 15 miles.
