Nice, yet easy trails among the unique fauna.
First of all, I'm amazed no one knows about this place. While small and seemingly insignificant, one of the world's oldest living organisms, a grove of box huckleberry trees, sits quietly in these beautiful woods. I had the whole natural area to myself when I visited, and even though it takes very little time to walk the whole trail, the scenery is magnificent and the peace one finds there is worth the visit alone. Go check it out
One of the oldest plants in the world, right here in Perry County, 1300 years old
Nice little hike loop up and down, moderate intensity. The famous plant is literally all over. No brochures available when I went but enjoyed the trip out all the same.
Quiet and small park. Still a lot to see. Print off a map of the park before you go.
