Central Alternative High School

I attended Central ten years ago so I could graduate high school early. The teachers and other staff were marvelous and really cared about their students. But, they also had expectations. The curriculum was basic but very doable for the population this school serves. I completed a number of take home packets, participated in a speech class, got really good at bowling (one of my other classes), and was ultimately able to complete high school more than a year early because of the flexibility with coursework. Success at this school does require a standard of commitment, but if students apply themselves, they can do it. My only disappointment, aside from a few scary students, was not always getting a lot of engaging instruction from the teachers.
