Nice display at the visitor center. Nothing to see in the desert.
Informative staff
The ranger at the visitor's center was amazing. He had tons of experience (including trilobite digs and work at the Smithsonian) with fossils and loads of information for us. Got to see the Oregon Trail, bald eagles, and learn a lot about the area. It was definitely a good stop on our road trip!
This NPS site is small and on the Main Street of a tiny town, but it is great nonetheless. Jay was full of information to share! He recommended a local hike to us and it was fabulous.
My girlfriend and I were visiting from Portland and were eager to hear that the Visitor Center was open again. We were looking forward to having our passport books stamped, but instead, they stamped pieces of paper for us to put in our books. This may seem like it’s not a big deal, but for two people that drove eight hours to get stamps IN their passport book, this was disappointing.nnRegardless, the staff was very friendly and informative and the displays were impressive to say the least.
