Great place to go with family for a safe and socially distanced experience.

Super cool little zoo that has a unique assortment of beautiful animals. The grounds were immaculate, the staff was very friendly and also knowledgeable. I had several questions as I toured the zoo and EVERY time, the staff member I spoke to stopped what they were doing and patiently interacted with me with an obvious love for their animals and an enthusiasm for sharing their knowledge.nAll virus protocols were in place. Navigating the zoo was easy and the habitats and displays were clean and engaging.nThe zoo is priced right and an affordable choice for families.nInsider hint: be sure to visit the surrounding park, rose gardens, etc. for an even more enjoyable experience!nI visited in the first week of October, 2020.

A fun way to spend a day, despite not all areas being open, due to Covid. The zoo is set up to guide you through in one direction and limit contact. We also appreciated the signs notifying of high touch points so we could remind the kids to keep hands off. Lots of sleeping animals, as is the case with most zoos in the hot summer, but we had fun and took our time walking through and seeing what we could. We did think they could have given a small discount, rather than keeping full price during this time, but also appreciate that they have costs, regardless.

We had a really nice time, even with the covid restrictions. They are doing everything that they can to keep people safe, while also keeping the zoo accessible. Obviously, exhibits that were inside small rooms are closed, but 80% (or more) of the exhibits are open. And, yes, they are charging full price, but they gotta make money to pay the staff and feed the animals somehow. We should all be happy that they are managing to stay open safely.nnNow, the zoo itself is nice, but if you are expecting the San Diego zoo or the Smithsonian zoo in DC, you will be sorely disappointed. However, it’s pretty great given that it is in Boise! It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into the learning exhibits, and I really appreciated that too. All in all, my kids had a great time and I enjoyed it too. We will definitely be coming back!
